Morgenthau Leaves Israel; is Optimistic on Country’s Economy

Henry Morgenthau Jr. left Israel today following a two-week stay during which he conferred with Cabinet members and visited various parts of the country.

Prior to his departure, Mr. Morgenthau said he was certain that Israel will reach economic independence within five years “Whoever saw the Kishon development and the Negev industries must understand that the Israel Government uses its money for essential and productive enterprises, ” he declared. He pledged that he would do his utmost to increase the sale of Israel bonds in the United States.
