The Italian-Government agency for the return of Jewish property seized by the Fascists during the war has indicated to the Union of Italian Jewish Communities that it will agree to the Jewish demand that the Jews do not pay the administrative costs involved in returning their property.

In the latest development in a months’-old dispute between the agency and the Union, the former asked the Jews to prepare a memorandum stating their position on why Jews should not be asked to pay the administrative costs. The Agency has indicated that it will accede to the Jewish demands, but is attempting to find a way of doing so that would not require passage of new legislation.
