Israel Attacked in Rumania As “military Base for U.S. Imperialism”

The Israel Government has again been denounced by Rumanian Jewish Communists for turning the country into “a military base of American imperialism.” The latest issue of Viata Noua, official publication of the Communist-dominated Jewish Democratic Committee, which has just arrived here, carries a statement by Bercu Feldman, secretary of the Committee, denouncing “American imperialists” whom he charges with surpassing the Nazi hangmen with their “lawlessness” in Korea.

At the same time, Mr. Feldman criticized the officials of his own organization for failing to make clear to Rumanian Jewry the relationships between the United States and Israel. He also hits out at the Israeli-West German reparations negotiations and at “hostile elements in the ranks of the Jewish people in our country.”
