A two-day nationwide mobilization of Jewish community leaders will take place in Chicago on May 24 and 25 to mark the half-way point in the United Jewish Appeal’s 1952 campaign for funds, to assess overseas Jewish needs for the balance of the year, and to hear a special message from Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, it was announced today by Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, U.J.A. executive vice-chairman.
Dr. Schwartz said that upwards of 750 of the country’s principal Jewish leaders will assemble for the two-day mobilization. He noted that the conference will also mark completion of the Appeal’s current month-of-May drive to raise a minimum of $10,000,000 in cash to meet mounting settlement, welfare and rehabilitation needs in Israel and in other parts of the world.
