Israel to Establish Legation in Japan; Trade Arrangements Made

Formal agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Japan, announced here this week-end, will be followed by designation of an Israeli diplomatic legation to Tokyo, it was said here today. An Israeli trade mission has visited Japan and made reciprocal trade arrangements there.

United States Ambassador Monett B. Davis called on Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett yesterday to discuss a number of pending questions prior to Mr. Sharett’s departure for the United States today. Earlier, the Foreign Minister received the Soviet Minister, P. Yershov, who presented the new counselor of the Soviet Legation.
