The Mapai newspaper Davar, commenting on the election of Rabbi Irving Miller as president of the Zionist Organization of America, said today that his election was not the result of an “ideological” victory but a personal one. Davar pointed out that Rabbi Miller is a veteran of the Zionist movement whose speeches at the Zionist Congress and at meetings of the Zionist Actions Committee have “aroused affection for his ability and Zionist-mindedness.”

The independent newspaper Haaretz saw the election of Rabbi Miller as opening a “new page in Z.O.A. history.” It added that his election proves that the Z.O.A. “which was on the descent, is showing strong signs of life.”
