The special committee of the House of Commons now studying proposed revisions of the Canadian immigration laws has rejected a clause which would establish a quota system for admission to Canada and contained other provisions described as reminiscent of the McCarran-Walter legislation now pending in the United States.

The fight on this clause was carried by David Croll and Leon Crestohl, Jewish members of Parliament, both of whom are serving on the special committee.
