A local branch of the American Fund for Israel Institutions was launched here with the presentation of a concert by the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra at which a symphonic poem “Eretz Israel” by Bernardo Hoff, local Jewish composer, was heard by some 2,000 persons.
Gen, David Shaltiel, Israel Minister to Brazil, arrived here and was welcomed by municipal officials and leaders of the Jewish community. Governor Lucas N. Garcez of this city tendered a banquet in honor of the Israeli, which was attended by prominent government officials and Jewish communal leaders.
