The Israel Government’s oil prospecting bill passed its first reading in Parliament last night by a vote of 53 to 6, with only the Mapam and Communist deputies in opposition.
The measure was then sent to the Finance Committee for further drafting. After the vote, government spokesmen estimated that the bill will have its second and third readings within a month to six weeks.
