The Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, the American Jewish Committee and various Zionist groups today made public their messages of condolence sent on the occasion of the death of Eliezer Kaplan last Sunday.

In a message signed by Julian Freeman, president, and H.L. Lurie, executive director, the C.J.F.W.F. said: “In addition to the abilities which he brought to his official responsiblities he impressed us with his fine personal qualities. It was always a rewarding experience to meet with him and to consult on our common areas of interest. We think of him with affection and we shall miss him as a representative of Israel and as a friend.”

Jacob Blaustein, president of the American Jewish Committee, stated: “We are deeply grieved at the untimely death of Eliezer Kaplan, one of Israel’s most able and distinguished officials. His wisdom, courage, nobility of character, integrity and statesmanship will be sorely missed.”

The Women’s League for Israel expressed its “deep sorrow” at the death of the Israeli Deputy Premier “whose brilliant and devoted service helped establish the Jewish State.” The League recalled “with gratitude his deep interest and encouragement in the early days of its inception.” The statement was signed by Mrs. William Prince, president, and Mrs. David L. Isaacs, first vice-president.
