The arrival of Admiral Mountbatten, British Commander-in-Chief in the Mediterranean, in Israel is interpreted here as laying the grand work for discussion with Israel of some aspects of Middle East defense.

The London Times in a cable from Tel Aviv says: “It is fairly obvious that Israel no longer has any doubts where she wishes to be in the international pattern. Her mind has been made up by a number of factors which leave her no practical alternative to identification with the measures as well as aims of the Atlantic Powers.”
