The first group of women recruits mobilized by Pioneer Women, the Women’s Labor Zionist Organization of America, for a year’s service in Israel sailed today for Tel Aviv. The women, most of whom are members of Pioneer Women in various parts of the country, will work with immigrants in the transition work settlements where hundreds of thousands of newcomers live until permanent housing is available.

The project aims to help ease the shortage of workers engaged in the rehabilitation of new immigrants. After a three months’ training course at Petach Tikvah recruits will be assigned to jobs in the kindergartens, instructions huts for infant care, household courses and other vital social services.
