The Israeli-Egyptian Mixed Armistice Commission met yesterday for the first time since Gen. Mohammed Naguib came to power in Egypt. Only routine problems were discussed at the meeting. A second meeting has been fixed for September 4th.

(A report from Tel Aviv to the London Times today said that the Sept. 4th meeting “may lead to consideration of wider issues” than border incidents. The decision of the Israeli-Egyptian armistice commission to meet again next week “is in connection with Premier Ben Gurion’s conciliatory speech in Knesset last week in which the Israel Premier appealed to Egypt’s rulers for cooperative settlement between the two countries,” the report says.)
