Herve J. L’Heureux, chief of the State Department Visa Division, who figured in the current controversy regarding the listing of Jews as such on visa applications, has been assigned to an important new post by the Department. He will become Chief of Missions in Germany with headquarters in Bonn.

L’Heureux’s tour of duty at the Department had expired and he was slated under the Department’s regulations to return to field service. In his new capacity it is believed that he will supervise American Consular authorities in Germany. He will be replaced by Edward S. Maney, a career employee in the department, who is now a foreign service inspector in the Department.
