The role of Orthodox Jewish youth in coping with the problems facing religious Jewry in the United States and Israel is being discussed here at the 30th annual convention of the Zeirei Agudath Israel of America, youth organization of the Agudas Israel movement. About 600 delegates and guests are attending the three-day parley.
The session of Jewish education in this country will be headed by a panel consisting of the distinguished deans of four Orthodox rabbinical seminaries. Special emphasis will be placed on expanding the activities of Zeirei Agudath Israel in establishing “night yeshivos” in major Jewish communities throughout the nation in order to give the working Jewish youth an opportunity to further their knowledge of Jewish studies during the evening hours.
The sessions devoted to Israel will be addressed by an Orthodox youth delegation which flew here from Israel to participate in the conclave. The delegation is headed by Israel Shadmi, noted leader of Zeirei Agudath Israel in Israel and founder of the religious Israeli veteran’s colony “Kommemiut.”
