Jewish Center Building Programs Cost $35,000,000 in Four Years

One hundred and forty-one Jewish community centers in various parts of the United States and Canada have undertaken building projects costing a total of $35,000,000 in the last four years, it was reported today by Mrs. Walter E. Heller, chairman of the National Jewish Welfare Board’s Jewish Center Division.

Construction or acquisition of new center sites was heaviest in the New England area where 23 centers are engaged in building programs. The metropolitan New York area was second with 20 centers involved in building programs. The cost of the various projects ranged from under $100,000 to $1,000,000 with the greatest block in the $100,000 to $250,000 range, the report said.
