Philadelphia Jew Gets Award; Hailed by Presidential Nominees

George Friedland, Jewish industrialist active in work for Israel, was presented with a Government of Israel Distinguished Service Award for his efforts to help stabilize the economy of the Jewish State. The presentation was made by Ambassador Abba Eban at a dinner last night at the Bellevue Hotel attended by more than 1,000 guests.

General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Governor Adlai E. Stevenson, the Presidential candidates, were among the distinguished personalities who joined in the tribute to Mr. Friedland by sending their congratulations. In their messages both candidates emphasized the importance of helping Israel through the sale of Israel bonds in this country and in other ways.
