40,000 Immigrants Expected to Enter Israel During Next Year

The number of immigrants arriving Israel in the next year is expected to reach 40,000, Itzhak Raphael, head of the Jewish Agency immigration department, reported to a plenary meeting of the Agency executive today.

Today’s session fixed the agenda for the forthcoming meeting of the Zionist Actions Committee, policy making body of the Zionist movement between world congresses, which opens here Nov. 20. The first session of the Actions Committee will be devoted to the memory of Dr. Chaim Weizmann, and subsequent sessions will consider: the Jewish Agency budget for 1953; Agency plans for colonization, immigration, Youth Aliyah, absorption and related economic problems; activities of the Zionist organizations in countries outside Israel; and, the Agency status bill which is currently under discussion in the Israel Parliament.
