An agreement between the Jewish community of Greece and world Jewish organizations for the distribution of the proceeds of heirless Jewish property in Greece by a special international commission was announced here today.

The agreement, reached as a result of mediation efforts by the World Jewish Congress, will clear the way for negotiations with the Greek Government for the enactment of legislation to turn over the proceeds of heirless property to the Jewish community. The commission which will distribute the proceeds will include representatives of the Greek Jewish communities, Jewish Agency, World Jewish Congress and Joint Distribution Commission.

The negotiations to establish such a body were conducted by W. J. C. aides with representatives of the Central Board of the Greek Jewish Communities and with representatives of the Israel Government. When the proceeds of heiress property are realized, considerable financial benefits will accrue to the Greek Jewish community and to the State of Israel, where some 5,000 Greek Jews have settled since the end of the war.
