Syrian forces on Israel’s northeast frontier last night fired on Col. S. Taxis, chairman of the United Nations Israel-Syrian Mixed Armistice Commission, when he entered the border zone to investigate Israeli complaints that the Syrians were firing into Israel territory. A meeting of the armistice commission scheduled for today has been postponed.

The Israeli authorities filed their protest with the U. N. body after the Syrians, for the second time in a week, fired on Kibbutz Tel Katzir, which is located in the Lake Tuberous region.
