An order prohibiting Jews from joining the Communist people’s police is the latest anti-Jewish move in the Soviet-held part of Germany where a drive has been going on to purge Jews from public offices and positions of influence, it was reported here today.
The purging of Jews from state positions in Communist East Germany started soon after the conclusion of the Prague “purge” trial which was marked by strong anti-Jewish and anti-Zionist propaganda. Jews holding positions in the Communist Party and in the state administration were questioned regarding their feelings on religion and various aspects of Communism.
