Israel’s Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, addressing the opening session of the first Asian Socialist Conference last night, said that the people of Israel felt they were returning to Asian identity after a long exile.
Israel Premier Ben Gurion, in a message of greetings to the conference, stressed the great mission of the Socialist movement in helping in the human struggle in Asia. He emphasized that Asia is the birthplace of Confucious, Buddah, Jesus and Mohammed.
Mr. Sharett, greeting the conference on behalf of Israeli Socialists, said that the people of Israel seek to merge the best of what they had imbibed from the rest of the world with Asian concepts. Israel is among the nine delegations enjoying full voting rights at the conference.
