The Israel Parliament today passed a land acquisition bill giving the government legal authorization for the seizure of lands during the War of Liberation and the period immediately after. The bill provides for a schedule of payments to owners of the land.

The bill had its first and second readings Monday night and would have been approved in final form yesterday, but the formal vote was delayed until today at the request of Communist deputies who pointed out that they had not been present during the earlier readings because they were commemorating the death of Premier Stalin.

The parties in the government coalltion were today reported to be studying a proposal to enact a 25,000,000 “compulsory loan” to provide funds for the settlement of 10,000 more families on the land and for fighting unemployment.
