Dr. Abraham Granott, chairman of the board of directors of the Jewish National Fund in Jerusalem, revealed at the annual meeting of the National Advisory Board of the JNF that 80 percent of the total Jewish agricultural land in the State of Israel is in the hands of the Jewish National Fund and that four-fifths of the total agricultural production of Israel derives from Jewish National Fund holdings.

Referring to the five-year development projects upon which the JNF is now embarked, Dr. Granott disclosed that, by an agreement recently reached with the Colonization Department of the Jewish Agency and the Government of Israel, the Jewish National Fund has assumed the sole responsibility for building a chain of settlements through the hill country of Israel, stretching all along the northern border, with a view not only to assuring a greater agricultural output, but also heightening the security of Israel.

Dr. Harris J. Levine, president of the Jewish National Fund of America, stated that $150,000,000 was raised within the last five years in the United States by JNF. Of this sum $15,000,000 was raised in nickels, dimes and dollar bills from school children, collections at Jewish festive occasions, the JNF Blue-White Box and other so-called traditional collections. Other speakers included Congressman Emanuel Celler and Mendel Fisher, JNF executive director.
