An Israeli spokesman here last night denied the charges of seven Arab states to the United Nations that Israel was selling the private property of Palestine Arab refugees to finance the immigration and settlement of Jewish refugees in Israel.
The Israeli pointed out that legislation being considered by the Israel Parliament provided for the shifting of control of lands owned by Arabs living in Israel from the Custodian of Abandoned Property to another government department to facilitate the return of land to these Arabs or their receipt of cash or other lands in compensation.
Property owned by Arabs outside Israel is still under the control of the Custodian of Abandoned Property and in cases where such property is sold the proceeds are set aside in the name of the Arab owner pending an overall settlement on the problem of the Palestine Arab refugees, the spokesman revealed.
