A National Economic Conference for Israel will be held in Washington, D. C. , from Saturday evening, September 26th through Monday, September 28th, it was announced today by Julian B. Venezky, chairman of the executive committee of the Israel Bond organization.
The Conference, which is sponsored by State of Israel Bonds, will be the third annual meeting of its kind. Key American Jewish leaders from communities throughout the United States will gather at sessions devoted to three major subjects:
1. An evaluation of accomplishments in the economic progress of Israel and the relationship of American Jewry to Israel.
2. The mobilization of maximum support for the final year of the Israel Independence Bond Issue.
3. The crystallization of the opinions of community leaders with regard to the experience of the past and the significance. of that experience for future planning in the enlistment of financial support (or the economic development of Israel.
“The National Economic Conference for Israel will seek to develop a program for maximum aid to Israel’s economic growth during the latter part of 1953 and the early months of 1954, ” Mr. Venezky indicated. ”The last year of the Israel Independence Bond Issue, whose sale terminates on May 31, 1954, must be the occasion for the most intensive effort to date to sell these Bonds to the American public, ” he said.
