Jews in Germany Seek Improvements in the Indemnification Bill

The Central Council of Jews in Germany has expressed itself as being dissatisfied with the Federal Indemnification Bill coming before the upper house of the German Parliament for final approval on July 17. The Council demands that necessary amendments be introduced when the new Parliament convenes in the autmn.

The Council also discussed the Jewish Successor Restitution Organization in Germany and voiced the belief that Jews in Germany were entitled to claim part of the capital and property acquired by this and other successor groups.

Dr. Chaim Yachil, deputy chief of the Israel Purchasing Mission, called on Acting Bavarian President Dr. Wilhelm Hoegner, to discuss the Israel reparations agreement, particularly as it affects Bavaria, and the problems of refugees, notably those who returned to Bavaria “illegally” from Israel.
