The Israel Parliament today passed the first reading of a bill granting the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School the right to dissect unclaimed bodies. The only opposition to the measure came from Poale Agudah and Agudah deputies. while the Poale Mizrachi deputies approved the legislation with some reservations.

Minister of Health Joseph Serlin, who introduced the bill, told the House that the 60 students now attending the medical school had received the best possible training except that they lacked sufficient training in anatomy. Such a lack may impair their ability as doctor, he warned.
