Dr. Katz told the Israeli President that his organization also disapproves of the Union’s interference in Israel’s religious affairs, which the Council regards as an encroachment on the responsibilities of the Israel Chief Rabbinate. Rabbi Katz emphasized his opinion that the Union has no authority to make religious pronouncements.
