Ayatullah Kashani, an extremist Moslem leader who urged Iranians to join with the Arab League against Israel and otherwise agitated against Jews, has made known that he will resume political activities shortly under the new government of Premier Zahedi, according to the Teheran radio today.
Kashani made a statement to the Teheran correspondent of the Egyptian newspaper, Al Ahram, in which he “confirmed his determination to resume his political activities following his withdrawal from the political arena in recent months.”
In reply to a question as to whether he proposed to reinstitute his candidacy for the office of Speaker of the Majlis (Parliament), Kashani replied that he considered himself above that office. Kashani pointed out that when he was Speaker of the former Majlis he did not attend its sessions and all resolutions were sent to him in his residence for approval.
Kashani endorsed the new government of Premier Zahedi, which he supported in the recent coup d’etat, and condemned the previous administration of Mohammed Mossadegh.
