A magistrate in Haifa today decided to refer to the higher district court the case of Ben Zion Hartmann, 20 year-old member of the staff of Herut, the right-wing newspaper, who allegedly confessed to bringing a bomb into the port of Haifa two weeks ago in an attempt to blast a ship carrying German reparations goods to Israel.

In his confession, Hartmann allegedly implicated Petachia Shamir, his group commander in the Revisionist youth group Betar who, he said, ordered him to take the bomb into the port area. Hartmann said he got through the guards at the entrance to the area by flashing his press card.
