Iraqi Foreign Minister Abdullah Bakr said today after a meeting with Secretary of State John Foster Dulles that Jordan has changed its position and now favors the total internationalization of the Jerusalem area.
Mr. Bakr was asked if Iraq supported the stand recently enunciated by Lebanese delegate Charles Malik at the United Nations in favor of the total internationalization of the Jerusalem area. He replied that “all the Arab countries” support such internationalization. At this point he was asked if Jordan, which has a record of opposing internationalization, was among the countries to which he referred. His answer was that Jordan at first had opposed internationalization but has now changed its view.
