Ceremonies celebrating the 110th anniversary of B’nai B’rith and its New York Lodge No, 1 were held here last night at the Hotel Plaza. The lodge was founded on Essex Street, in New York’s Lower East Side, on October 13, 1843, by a group of 12 young men headed by Henry Jones.

Reviewing the growth of B’nai B’rith to its present position, Philip M. Klutznick, national president, said: “Because of its democratic organization, B’nai B’rith has been able to provide strong, decisive leadership for the American Jewish community. Its ability to recognize a need and to respond with prompt remedial action rests upon its sensitiveness to the will of American Jewry. It is an organization in which every man can make his voice heard, his influence felt,”
