New York City Council Votes to Proclaim “hebrew University Month”

A resolution calling upon Mayor Vincent R. Impellitteri to proclaim November as “Hebrew University Month,” in honor of Israelis university, was adopted yesterday by the City Council, The vote was unanimous. The resolution was introduced jointly by majority leader Joseph T. Sharkey and minority leader Stanley M. Isaacs.

The resolution declared that the University is “the sole general institution of higher learning in the State of Israel, having the purpose of serving the people of that country and the entire Near East and Middle East in the fields of science, medicine, public health, social science, agriculture, law, education and other fields of scholarship and endeavor.”
