New methods in heart surgery, developed at the Maimonides Hospital here under the supervision of Dr. Charles B. Ripstein, director of Surgical Services at the hospital, were described today by Dr. Ripstein at a luncheon on behalf of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies.

The new method enables the correction of formerly fatal congenital heart defects. The Maimonides work in heart surgery was described October 5th in a leading presentation at the 39th annual meeting in Chicago of the American College of Surgeons.
