Jewish Chaplains Hold Three-day Conference in St. Louis

Practical problems chaplaincy in the United States and abroad were discussed at a three-day conference of 6 65 Jewish chaplains which concluded here last night. All the 65 chaplains are on active duty at Army, Navy and Air Force installations in this country. Another 35 Jewish chaplains are serving in Korea, Japan, Alaska, Europe, Panama, North Africa, Okinawa, Hawaii, Philippines and Guam.

The conference discussed morale problems arising from the truce in Korea, religious education for military personnel and their dependents, the chaplain’s relation to the military, planning and organizing Torah convocations for military personal, specialized problems of overseas chaplains, and religious literature and personnel, specialized problems of overseas chaplains, and religious literature and supplies for the contemporary GI are among the subjects on the conference agenda.
