Bennike Inspects Israel Hydroelectric Project on Jordan River

Maj. Gen. Vagn Bennike, head of the United Nations truce observance forces in Palestine, personally inspected the Jordan River canal at Bnot Yaakov, against which Syria has protested, and heard explanations on the spot from Israeli members of the Israeli-Syrian Mixed Armistice Commission.

Gen. Bennike, who visited the development while en route to Damascus, to confer with the Syrian Government, was also shown the Arab land holdings on the east bank of the river which would be affected by the project.
