The action of Dr. Norman Salit, president of the Synagogue Council of America, who voiced criticism of the United Nations handling of Arab-Israeli disputes at a State Department-Post Office Department luncheon in Washington last week, was sharply criticized in a statement issued here by the American Jewish Committee.

The statement called Dr. Salit’s comments on that occasion “a grievous offense against the spirit of international amity. ” The Council president, the AJC declared, “indulged in bitter, intemperate statements” which did not advance the cause of peace between Israel and its neighbors.
