ISRAEL CHARGES JORDAN WITH WILFUL DECEPTION OF U.N.
Israel today charged the Government of Jordan with wilful deception of the United Nations in an attempt to discredit the Jewish State in the UN and in the eyes of the world. The charge was made in a memorandum submitted by Israel representative at the UN, Abba Eban, to the president of the Security Council.
Referring specifically to two charges earlier this month, the alleged Israeli attack on the Jordan village of Husan and the alleged destruction of the tomb of Sheik Suliman el Farisi at Beit Nuba, Mr. Eban said that these allegations were “devoid of truth.”
The memorandum cited a number of other cases over the past two years in which Jordan was responsible for hoaxes and in which the UN truce observation staff had discovered the lie. Despite assurances that such incidents would be halted, the memorandum pointed out, “falsification and deceit continued.”
