A special tribute to former Secretary of the Treasury Henry Morgenthau Jr. for his record of communal leadership and of service to the development of the State of Israel was held yesterday at a luncheon at the Delmonico Hotel here. The luncheon celebrated Mr. Morgenthau’s sixty-third birthday, and his acceptance of the post of chairman of the International Committee for State of Israel Bonds.

Rudolf G. Sonneborn, president of the Israel Bond Organization, presided at the luncheon at which prominent American and Israeli personalities expressed appreciation for Mr. Morgenthau’s outstanding record of service as general chairman of the United Jewish Appeal from 1947 through 1950, and as chairman of the Board of Governors of the Israel Bond Organization starting in 1951. An Israel-made copper plate bearing engraved silver emblems of the twelve tribes of Israel was presented to Mr. Morgenthau.
