A delegation of Jewish leaders headed by Chief Rabbi Israel Brodie visited the Home Secretary, Sir David Maxwell, to voice British Jewry’s views opposing world calendar reform as proposed before the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

Sir David told the delegation that he would give careful consideration to the protest, indicating that the Government had not altered its attitude toward the calendar reform move. That attitude is that Britain would refrain from supporting the proposal at the UN unless and until there is evidence of strong support for the move both in the United Kingdom and abroad.
