Gratitude for the manner in which the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany responded to the World OSE Union’s request for assistance for various Jewish health projects was expressed here today by Abel Shaban, president of the World OSE, as the world conference of the organization began its work at UNESCO house here.
Mr. Shaban also offered a four-point program for cooperation between his organization and the Joint Distribution Committee for work in the field of Jewish health. These proposals, as outlined to the delegates, were: 1. The JDC medical services should be incorporated into OSE’s programs; 2. Supplementary personnel needed for consolidation should be chosen by the two organizations; 3. The OSE should make available several positions on its executive board for the JDC, if the latter desires it; and, 4. The JDC’s auditors would be designated the official auditors of the OSE and its various national branches.
In a comment on the OSE’s relationships with the Jewish communities in which it works, Mr. Shaban stressed that all national OSE branches must integrate themselves fully in the Jewish communal life of their countries. He urged the national groups to enroll the largest possible memberships in their organizations and to choose for their executive boards the best elements in the medical field in their countries.
