The possibility of extending medical relief work to Jewish organizations in countries behind the Iron Curtain were discussed here this week-end between H. A. Goodman, European chairman of the Agudat Israel organization, and officials of the International Red Cross. The officials expressed hope that the type of relief work sought by the Agudah leader might be developed soon in Hungary, Poland and Bulgaria.
Red Cross officials also told the Agudah leader that they are “watching” reports of desecrations of ancient Jewish cemeteries in the Jordanian sector of Palestine. They also indicated that they had conveyed to the Jordanian government protests received from the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, the Magen David Adom, against Jordanian firing upon Israeli ambulances during the “three-day war” which flared up recently in Jerusalem.
