The appointment by President Eisenhower of Roger W. Struas as an alternative representative of the United States to the General Assembly of the United Nations, which opens next month, was confirmed this weekend by the Senate, prior to its adjournment.
Mr. Straus is one of the outstanding leaders of the Interfaith movement, cochairman of the Conference of Christians and Jews. He has been for many years a member of the board of the Friends of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and an active supporter of Jewish philanthropic and cultural enterprises in Israel.
