Edward B. Lawson, new U.S. Ambassador to Israel, left the United States today for his new post with the observation that he could not imagine “any more complex, interesting or difficult” task.

“During my tour of duty in Israel I shall do my utmost to further develop trade, financial and economic relations between the United States and Israel, ” he stated at a reception tendered here in his honor by the board of directors of the American Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry prior to his departure.
