A permanent extradition treaty between Israel and Belgium was initiated by representatives of both states at a ceremony yesterday at the Foreign Office here.

The conclusion of the pact came at the end of three weeks of negotiations. The new pact will replace a temporary arrangement which had been in effect previously. Israel is currently negotiating a number of such treaties with countries in Western Europe.
