Hope that future relationships between Britain and Israel will develop in the spirit of the Balfour Declaration, was expressed here in a Balfour Day statement by the officers of the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland.
The statement expressed “appreciation” to the British Government for the document and paid tribute to the memory of Dr. Chaim Weizmann who obtained the pledge of British support of a Jewish homeland contained in the Balfour Declaration, The statement hailed the State of Israel and pledged British Jewry’s support of Israel’s struggle for peace and development in the Middle East.
