The fight to eliminate discriminatory practices by resorts and hotels because of race or religion is making increasing progress throughout the nation, it was stated by Arnold Forster, chief counsel and civil rights director of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, in a special report to ADL Regional Offices made public here today.
The report cited a number of measures taken by state tourist councils, railroads, state commissions on civil rights, state development commissions and chambers of commerce. These measures include a refusal to carry any advertising with discriminatory phraseology, refusal to give promotional aid to hotels which discriminate, and refusal to hold meetings or conventions at hotels which discriminate on the basis of religious or national origin.
