A total of $177,552,450 in Israel bonds has been sold in the United States from the inception of the Israel Bond campaign in May, 1951, to the end of 1954, it was reported here today on the eve of the opening of the two-day International Mobilization Conference for the Development of Israel’s Economy. The total sold during 1954 was $40,522,950.
The Conference, which will be held at the Hotel Fontainebleau, will mark the official international launching of the 1955 campaign for State of Israel Development Bonds. Principal speakers at the Conference will include Senator Alben W. Barkley of Kentucky, former Vice President of the United States; Reuven Shiloah, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of Israel to the United States, and Leon H. Keyserling, outstanding economist and former chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers.
