Two attacks on Jewish teenagers occurred within a half-hour of each other this week, resulting in one 15-year-old Jewish boy, Roy Rosen, being hospitalized. Both attacks occurred in the Overbrook Park section of this city and the pattern of the incidents was so similar as to point to the possibility that both were the work of one gang.
In the first incident, two cars full of toughs between 16 and 20 drew up to a street corner and the attackers surrounded three Jewish boys whom they proceeded to taunt and beat. Two of the three Jewish boys managed to break away, but the third, Roy Rosen, was beaten and kicked unconscious. His nose may be broken and his sight may be impaired as a result of the beating. His father, Edward Rosen, reported the incident to the Jewish Community Relations Council, which presented the information to the police department.
The second incident occurred in the same vicinity thirty minutes later. Two cars full of thugs again drew up to a group of eight Jewish boys and girls. The Jewish youngsters were insulted and bullied before they were able to break away. Mr. Rosen also reported this incident to the JCRC.
